Wedding ceremonies, they're dull, somber and all the same, right? "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today... blah, blah, blah..." You know the drill. If you're anything like I was when I was planning my wedding, everything you know about wedding ceremonies comes from boring TV weddings or boring weddings you've actually attended. I knew that I could choose a church wedding (the option our families wanted) or a courthouse wedding (an option that no one wanted), but there seemed to be a huge open space in between those two choices. I knew that I wanted my wedding to be somewhere in that space but I had no idea of just where or how to start.
I'm Kya Rose and I've spent much of the past 20 years exploring the vast array of wedding ceremony options between the basic church wedding and the basic courthouse wedding. I'm a Michigan wedding officiant for spiritually independent couples and I love helping couples create new wedding ceremonies that are personal, emotional, memorable and FUN!
When I got married (way back in 1988), I had a good friend officiate my ceremony. I wanted something unique, so I invented some new traditions and our ceremony was very different and memorable, but it wasn't the ceremony I wanted. Neither my officiant nor I really knew how to design a wedding ceremony so it was a little... well, rough with a lot of improvisation and some resulting confusion. Some of our guests loved it, but a number of them felt awkward and embarrassed for me. I ended up with the last thing any Bride wants on her wedding day - uncomfortable guests and a disorganized ceremony. Yikes!
As an officiant, I am dedicated to making sure that what happened to me doesn't happen to you. I combine my love for the unique and untraditional with my knowledge of ceremony crafting to help you through the process of deciding what you really want (and don't want) in your wedding. Then I deliver a professional ceremony that reflects your style and beliefs. Not a cut-and-paste, "choose a sermon from column A and vows from column B" wedding, but a personalized ceremony from start to finish that celebrates your love story in exactly the way you choose.
